LHSAA History

The mission of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association is to serve its member schools by providing unified and equitable administrative leadership within the realm of education-based athletics, founded on core values that foster the ideals of respect, responsibility, citizenship, and academic development for our student-athletes. The LHSAA strives to fortify the integrity of its member schools, across the state, by promoting the concepts of sportsmanship, integrity, excellence in academics and life-long values as the principle foundations of Louisiana athletics. At the annual convention in 2013, the LHSAA membership defined the post-season format for football only and membership also defined what it meant to be a select school or a non-select school. LHSAA 2018 Summer Hours

Per LHSAA Policy and Procedure "Holidays and Summer Hours of Operation" prescribes the LHSAA office schedule for the summer including the hours of operation, days of the week, the week on the calendar to begin and end. It is as follows: Mondays through Thursdays 8:00am - 4:00pm which shall begin the week following Memorial Day (Tuesday, May 29, 2018) and shall reume the regular Monday through Friday schedule, the second week of August (August 6, 2018).

Injury Prevention in the Overhead Athlete

Coaches, players, parents (baseball, softball, QB's, and volleyball) - this Friday and Saturday (Dec. 15-16), Tulane University will be hosting a lectureship on "Injury Prevention in the Overhead Athlete" in the Yulman Stadium’s Multi-Purpose Room on Tulane University Campus This lecture will be FREE to coaches, athletes, and parents; $85 for Physicians; $50 for Allied Health. The Keynote Speaker will be Ben Kibler MD, FACSM | Lexington Sports Medicine, Lexington, Ky. This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit via Tulane University. LHSAA Compliance/Investigative Team Technology Summit

The LHSAA hosted a Technology Summit for the Compliance/Investigative Team on Thursday, Aug. 10. Executive director, Mr. Eddie Bonine shared that these compliance officers are “integral to what we do...” The team also “ensures that [LHSAA] member schools are doing what they are supposed to do…as it comes to forms, clearing some athletes to participate so that across our state, we have a consistency for eligibility rules that makes the athletes in all of our sports eligible.” Mr. Bonine began the meeting by introducing new members of the LHSAA staff and then acquainted the compliance/investigative team to their new Samsung Galaxy tablets. “We’re going to work smarter, versus harder,” Mr. Bonine shared. Celebrating the LHSAA Winter State Champions

The sun is out. Flowers are blooming. Grass is greener. Birds are singing. Today marks the first day of spring, and this past weekend the LHSAA wrapped up its winter sports season at the conclusion of five consecutive weeks. After six different championship events, let's celebrate 49 state championship teams from all across Louisiana. The stretch from mid-February through mid-March is a magical time for high school sports in Louisiana. It’s exhausting for those involved, but almost every day we are celebrating someone new on a statewide level. This started a relationship between the foundation and the Zurich Classic which is the New Orleans Open, a PGA Tour golf event. Request For Proposals (RFP) for LHSAA State Championships Venues

If your organization is interested in submitting a bid, please select the respective sport link below. All proposals shall be reviewed and analyzed by the LHSAA staff and if needed, a site visit by LHSAA staff to the facility will be arranged. The LHSAA administration will make a recommendation to the Executive Committee during their June meeting. You will be notified the exact day and time to make your ten (10) minute presentation.   It is critical you reference all topics in the invitation to bid documents when preparing your proposal.
