Game of the Week - Week 10

Gear up for week ten of the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Thursday Night Football Game of the Week Welcome back for another week of high school football.  We have made it to the last week of the regular season and the last week for our Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Thursday Night Football Game of the Week.  This past week, we had another great district matchup between the Archbishop Shaw Eagles and the St. Augustine Purple Knights from Tad Gormley Stadium in City Park.  Both teams came into the contest winless in the Catholic League, but their fight and determination said otherwise.  The Purple Knights held just a 7-0 lead at halftime because of a tenacious Eagle defense that came up with numerous…

Game of the Week - Week 9

Gear up for Week Nine of the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Thursday Night Football Game of the Week Welcome back for another week of LHSAA Game of the Week football.  We had a District 3-5A matchup last week with the Lafayette Lions visiting the Southside Sharks.  Since this game could determine playoff implications, it was expected to be a close game on the scoreboard, but that’s why games are decided on the field.  The Sharks started fast, gaining more than 300 yards passing and putting up 42 points in the first half alone.  Lafayette did not quit, as they outscored the Sharks in the second half after the damage had been done.  In the end, it was a dominating 63-35 win…

Gear up for Week Eight of the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Thursday Night Football Game of the Week Welcome back for another Thursday night of football. We had a great matchup last week with the St. Charles Catholic Comets defeating the Franklinton Demons 35-6. Franklinton could not find their groove on offense while the Comets played outstanding defense, forcing four turnovers and capitalizing on all of them. After recording a shutout in the first half, the Comet offense was able to put 21 points on the board in the third quarter which sealed the win. Legendary coach Frank Monica and his staff are always a huge key to St. Charles Catholic’s success.  Look for the Comets to be a major contender…

Game of the Week - Week 7
