The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) announces the return of the “Game of the Week”. The Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Thursday Night Game of the Week will showcase the most highly anticipated high school football games across Louisiana. The LHSAA is proud to partner with Crescent City Sports to stream each week’s game live from the LHSAA Live App.
Last week’s matchup showcased Class 3A 4th ranked Iota Bulldogs versus Class 2A 6th ranked Welsh Greyhounds at Bulldog Stadium. Iota started the game slow but were able to build a lead and never looked back. Bulldog senior running back Luke Doucet had a huge game carrying the ball 186 yards and two touchdowns. Iota shut out the Greyhounds to win with a final score of 34-0.
This week’s matchup showcases Class 5A Airline Vikings versus Class 5A Ruston Bearcats at Louisiana Tech’s Joe Aillet stadium. The Vikings have started this season strong by winning their first two games. Last week’s game became a tough one but the defense stepped up to help push the Vikings to victory. This team is playing well and will try to continue winning as they get ready for the Bearcats Thursday night.
The opposing side features the Ruston Bearcats, who is coming off a tough lost to Acadiana. Although their record is 0-2 the Bearcats played well in both games only losing by eight points or less. Look for Ruston to come out and play even harder to gain their first win on the season.
To get ready for next week’s match-up download the LHSAA Live app on your electronic devices to stay updated. The broadcast team for Thursday’s “Game of the Week” are LHSCA Director Eric Held as the color analyst, Ken Trahan, owner of Crescent City Sports, as the play by play announcer and Kate Adams, the director of communication and media relations at the LHSAA on the sideline.
